I LOVE mushroom flavor, but I’m NOT of a fan of rubbery mushroom texture. Like it or not, research is increasingly coming out in favor of shiitakes ability to fight cancer cells and infectious disease! They are also a great way to boosts the immune system, promote brain function and they serve as a source of B vitamins.
In this recipe we take our Youth Tonic already PACKED with shiitake mushrooms and hide additional mushrooms in with the shallots and grass fed ground beef. Your pickiest eater will LOVE this mouth watering dish mushroom-unawares.
- Heat the ghee or avocado oil in a deep frying pan.
- While it heats, dice your shiitake mushrooms they should be about the size of a tic-tac. Sauce your shiitakes and once they have browned add the diced shallots, then the garlic. Add your grass fed beef to the middle of the pan and let it brown on one side, flip and use two forks to “crumble” the beef. Flip and repeat. Do this until all of the beef is nicely mixed in with the shallots, mushrooms, garlic and add your bone broth.
- Reduce the liquid until it is completely absorbed.
- Salt as desired.
Serve in lettuce wraps, or add it as a base to skillets, soups and my favorite - homemade marinara.
