FOND’s Functional Bone Broth Sips

FOND’s bone broth tonics are truly functional beverages, with synergist herb infusions that support a range of different functions in the body. But what happens when you take that nourishment up a level with the addition of extra ingredients geared towards specific concerns? Functional Sips are born!

Our founder, Alysa, developed our lineup of Functional Sip recipes to support everything from sleep to hormone health. You can choose one or two based on your own needs, or you can try every single one (that’s definitely our style!). 

Regardless of the one you choose, you can sip easily knowing that each recipe is filled to the brim with nourishment in a delicious, ready-to-sip form. 


Bone Broth and Sleep

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: bone broth might just be your evening routine game-changer. In large part, that’s thanks to glycine. We’ve spoken about this supernutrient before - it’s crucial for everything from supporting digestion to balancing blood sugar.

Turns out it also supports sleep! In the case of sleep, glycine not only promotes relaxation, but also improves sleep - everything from falling asleep faster to waking up less frequently and maintaining a deeper sleep. Pretty impressive! And because of these bedtime benefits, participants in one study also saw less daytime sleepiness (bye afternoon slump!) and improved memory and overall mental function.

That’s why having a mug of FOND pre-bedtime isn’t just delicious, it’s functional too. 

Our founder, Alysa, decided to take things up a notch by developing a Sleep Tonic that not only features bone broth, but also other sleep-supporting ingredients like chamomile,  lavender, lemongrass and mint. 

 

Sleep Tonic

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar FOND's Liquid Light
  • 1/4 cup canned coconut milk (we like Native Forest Simple)
  • 1 Chamomile Lavender teabag (we use Traditional Medicinals)
  • 2 whole mint leaves
  • 1-inch lemongrass, bruised

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a pot. Bring them to a simmer, then let steep 30 minutes

 

Bone Broth and Immune Support

Did you know that the majority of your immune cells live in the gut? That’s why a healthy gut is critical to a healthy immune system. 

Bone broth is already incredible at supporting your immune system, thanks to gut-nourishing ingredients like collagen and gelatin and amino acids like glycine, glutamine, and proline. It also contains naturally-occurring electrolytes for hydration, and key micronutrients. 

But our founder, Alysa, decided to develop a tonic that truly takes immune support to the next level, with ingredients like reishi, cilantro, and harissa. It’s the perfect way to take our already nourishing bone broth and supercharge it. 

Immunity Tonic

Serves 1

Our take on tom kha gai


Ingredients:

  • 1 jar FOND's Youth Tonic
  • 1/4 cup canned coconut milk (we like Native Forest Simple)
  • 1 slice Reishi mushroom
  • ⅛ tsp red pepper Harissa
  • Handful of cilantro, minced
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • Salt to taste

Directions:

Bring to a simmer and use a stick frother or blender to combine until frothy. 

Bone Broth and Thyroid Health

Because of its positive impact on gut health and its vitamin and mineral content, bone broth already nourishes your hormones, including the hormones produced by the thyroid gland. 

But combine bone broth with other thyroid supporting nutrients and you’ve got a powerhouse functional tonic. That’s exactly what our founder, Alysa, did, combining bone broth with nutrient-rich miso, iodine-containing seaweed, and healthy fats. It’s the perfect combination to support thyroid (and overall!) health.

Thyroid Tonic

Serves 1

Our take on miso soup

Ingredients: 

  • 1 jar FOND's Spring Clean
  • 1/4 cup canned coconut milk (we like Native Forest Simple)
  • 1 Tbsp fermented Miso paste, white or red
  • 1 tsp wakame (seaweed)
  • 1 stalk of scallions, thinly sliced

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a pot. Bring to a boil, then let steep for 30 minutes. If needed, add a little water to get to your desired consistency.

Bone Broth and Digestion

If bone broth is known for one thing, it’s gut health. Thanks to nutrients like collagen, gelatin, glycine, proline, glutamine, and more, bone broth has a reputation for nourishing and supporting the gut lining, and even improving digestion. On top of that, FOND adds synergistic herb infusions to take our flavors up one more gut-loving level.

But what happens if you add even more functional ingredients, like probiotic-rich kimchi? We did just that. And we can tell you that your gut will be really, really happy.


Digestion Tonic

Serves 1

Kimchi soup


Ingredients:

  • 1 jar FOND's Spring Clean
  • 1/4 cup canned coconut milk or cream (we like Native Forest Simple)
  • 1 Tbsp gluten-free kimchi brine (or make it a soup with a ¼ C of kimchi!)
  • Salt to taste

Directions: 

Add all ingredients to a pot, bring to a simmer, pour and enjoy!

Note: you can sip or soup this one! For more of a soup, use kimchi, and for a sip use the kimchi brine. 

Bone Broth and Inflammation

Chronic inflammation is associated with an array of health issues, from digestive disorders to autoimmune conditions. Bone broth is already a great tool to have in your inflammation-banishing toolbox, since it helps decrease gut-related inflammation. But pair it with other anti-inflammatory ingredients and you’ve got a true powerhouse on your hands.

If you want the perfect, golden milk-esque recipe that not only tastes delicious, but also supports lower inflammation levels in the body, look no further than our Inflammation Tonic. It’s filled with a double dose of turmeric (from our Liquid Light flavor and fresh turmeric root), as well as a dreamy blend of spices that includes cloves, cardamom, star anise and cinnamon. 

It’s the perfect sip, whether you start your day with it or drink it as a nightcap. 

Anti-Inflammatory Tonic

Serves 1

Our take on golden mylk

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar FOND's Liquid Light
  • 1/4 cup canned coconut milk (we like Native Forest Simple)
  • 1 tsp fresh turmeric root, grated
  • Dash of clove
  • Dash of cardamom
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 tsp raw honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Salt to taste

Directions:

Bring to a simmer, strain and use a stick frother or blender to combine until frothy. Enjoy!
